Koraput: In a gruesome incident, a man beat his father-in-law to death and critically injured his mother-in-law over a family feud at Laxmipur in Koraput district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Lochan Baipari, a daily wager, of Talachampi village in the district.
According to Lochan Baipari’s daughter Sumitra Baipari, her sister Popi Baipari had married Krushna Jani of Jhalaguda village about a year ago. Due to persistent family quarrels in her in-laws’ house, Popi started living with her parents.
The feud turned worse when Krushna came to Lochan’s house and started throwing stones at his house on Saturday night. Subsequently, Krushna beat Lochan with an iron rod killing him on the spot. He didn’t spare his wife Popi and mother-in-law Badali as they tried to save Lochan.
Krushna is said to be absconding since the incident, while the mother-daughter duo is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
On being informed, police reached the village and seized Lochan’s body. They registered a case and started an investigation after sending the body for postmortem.
