Dhenkanal: A man allegedly beat his wife and attempted to bury her alive in the backyard of their house following a squabble. Such an incident has occurred at Sitalabasa village under Kamakhyanagar block in Dhenkanal district.
Reportedly, the accused identified as Ranjan Sahu had married Sukanti Sahu two years back. After the marriage, the husband and wife continued to quarrel over dowry.
Today, as the quarrel between them escalated, Ranjan beat Sukanti and threw her into a pit. She was later rescued by family members and rushed to Kamakhyanagar Sub-divisional Hospital. She has suffered severe injuries to her chest and head.
Sukanti was later rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack as her condition was critical.
Meanwhile, Ranjan is absconding. Family members have lodged a complaint in this regard at Kamakhyanagar Police Station.
