Deogarh: In a shocking incident, the body of a woman was recovered from a field at Bamparada village under Barkote police station limits in Deogarh district on Saturday. The blood-soaked body was found lying in a field located behind the IRB Battalion in the village, creating panic among local residents.

According to reports, some villagers noticed the body lying in the field and immediately informed the police. Soon after receiving the information, personnel from the Barakote police station reached the spot and began an investigation.

The deceased woman has been identified as Manju Behera, a native of the Pallahara area in Angul district. Though she originally belonged to another district, she had been residing with her husband in Bamparada village.

Preliminary reports indicate that a dispute had reportedly broken out between Manju and her husband, Ajit Dehuri. Their daughter, Savitri Dehuri, has alleged that during the altercation, Ajit Dehuri assaulted her mother and beat her to death.

Police seized the body from the spot and initiated further investigation into the incident. Efforts are currently underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the woman’s death, while authorities are examining all possible angles related to the case.
