Sundargarh: In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a man allegedly murdered his wife by smashing her head with a stone following a heated argument in Damkuda village under Talsara Police Station limits of Sundargarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Aarti Hembram, while the accused husband, Rajesh Hembram, has been arrested by police.
According to preliminary reports, the couple had a history of frequent quarrels.
On Friday evening, an argument reportedly broke out between them over the husband’s drinking habit. Later in the night, the dispute escalated further, following which the accused, in a fit of rage, allegedly assaulted his wife with a stick before repeatedly hitting her on the head with a stone.
Aarti Hembram died on the spot due to the grievous injuries. The couple is survived by their two children.
On receiving information, police reached the spot, detained the accused, and registered a case. The body has been recovered and sent for postmortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
