Jatni: Tension gripped Jatni in Khordha district on Saturday after a man allegedly attacked his wife’s lover in broad daylight, leaving him critically injured. The incident occurred near the Jatni Post Office, where passersby were shocked to see the assault unfold on the road.
The victim has been identified as Chandan Nayak, who sustained grievous injuries to his neck and back. He was first rushed to the Jatni Community Health Centre and later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated.
According to police sources, the attack was fueled by personal enmity linked to an extramarital affair. The accused, Sushant Nayak of Rangamatia under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district, was arrested shortly after the incident. Police have also seized the weapon used in the crime.
Jatni police have launched further investigation into the matter.
