Road Accident

Bhubaneswar: A man and a bull were killed in a tragic road accident late Monday night near Pankapal High School under Kujang police station in Jagatsinghpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Ajit Nayak, a resident of Badabarena village under Narsinghpur police station in Cuttack district.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 2 am when Ajit Nayak and his friend Basanta Rout were returning from a cultural programme in the Rahama area. Basanta was driving the car towards Paradeep when the vehicle hit a bull lying on the Cuttack-Paradip Road near Pankapal High School.

The impact caused the driver to lose control and the vehicle rammed into a roadside tree, uprooting it. The collision proved fatal for Ajit Nayak, who was crushed by the steering wheel. The bull also died on the spot. Basanta Rout sustained injuries.

Fire brigade personnel used a cutter to retrieve Nayak’s body from the mangled vehicle. Both occupants were rushed to the Kujang Community Health Centre (CHC), where Nayak was declared dead. The injured driver received primary treatment and was later discharged.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
