Jharsuguda: In a tragic incident, a woman was reportedly killed by her son in Mahijor Village under Belpahar police limits of Jharsuguda district on Saturday. However, the reason behind the gruesome killing is yet to be ascertained.
The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Urkuli Luhara.
According to reports, Urkuli’s son Banamali Lohar hit his mother’s head with a stick when the latter was asleep. Hearing Urkuli’s scream, locals rushed to her and found Urkuli writhing in pain. She was immediately taken to the Lakhanpur Community Health Center, where doctors declared her dead.
Upon receiving information, Belpahar police arrived at the crime scene and launched an investigation. Police, meanwhile, detained the accused to unravel the reason behind killing his mother.
A scientific team has also been pressed into service to conduct a detailed investigation.
