Bhubaneswar: The Additional District Judge court in Bhadrak today convicted a man in a minor girl rape case reported under Basudevpur police station area.
Additional District Judge Minati Kumar Panda sentenced accused Bimaleshwar Majhi to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
According to the case, on January 18, 2018, when the minor girl was going near a prawn gheri, the accused called her. When she went near him, he forcibly took her to a nearby field and raped her.
Following a complaint by family members, police registered a case at Bansada police station. The court pronounced the verdict today after hearing the case. Special Public Prosecutor Tushar Kanti Jena appeared on behalf of the government.
