Man Gets 20 Years In Prison For Raping Minor Girl In Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar:  The Special POCSO Court of Sambalpur has sentenced a man to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for raping a minor girl. The convict was  Sumant Mirdha.

The incident occurred on April 1, 2020, in a village under the Sasana police station in Sambalpur district.

According to reports, the minor was sleeping in a house when Sumant Mirdha allegedly committed the offense. The minor informed her family, who subsequently filed a complaint with the police. Following an investigation, Sumant Mirdha was arrested.

The Special POCSO Court of Sambalpur delivered its verdict based on the testimony and evidence presented. The accused has been convicted and sentenced as per the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
