Bhubaneswar: Keonjhar District Sessions Judge Ashok Panda sentenced a person to undergo life imprisonment for killing his father. Besides, the court also slapped a penalty of 5,000 on him.
The convict has been identified as Naba Kishore Munda, the son of the late Bishu Munda from Gajaamba village in Keonjhar district’s Pandapada police jurisdiction.
The judge delivered the verdict after reviewing the police chargesheet and considering the testimony of 13 witnesses.
Going by the case, Bishu’s married daughter returned to her parental house after a long time. Bishu asked to prepare her favourite chicken curry. He slaughtered two chickens for the purpose. When Bishu’s wife took time to serve chicken curry to Bishu, the latter became enraged.
Upon inquiring, his wife explained that it was still being cooked. This led to a heated argument between Bishu and his son Naba, which quickly spiralled out of control.
In a sudden and violent outburst, Naba Kishore grabbed an axe and struck his father Bishu on the head multiple times, resulting in his instant death. Following the incident, the police arrested Naba Kishore and produced him before the court, acting on a complaint filed by Bishu’s wife.
