Bhubaneswar: The Additional Sessions Judge Court, Bhubaneswar on Friday awarded rigorous imprisonment for life to one Sneha Shawkhar Samal after convicting him for the triple murder in the Khandagiri area in 2014.
The court has convicted Sneha Shawkhar Samal to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for life and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000, in default to undergo RI for 1 year for the offence under section 302 IPC.
Further Samal has been convicted under section 307/450 IPC to undergo RI for 7 years and pay a fine of Rs 5,000, in default to undergo RI for 6 months.
On October 14, 2014, at about 7:30 AM, while the informant was going towards Kolathia leaving his son at Khandagiri Square, he found one lady stained with blood crying as “Maridela” in front of the house of his cousin Dr Atulya Ch Meher.
When he went near the house found the blood-stained bodies of Dr Atulya Ch Meher, Caretaker Prasant Ch Behera and Minu Behera lying in the front yard of the house of Dr Atulya Ch Meher. The mother and wife of Dr Atulya Ch Meher also told him that, one person wearing pant and, shirt had stabbed three persons and went away towards Sulabha Souchalya. He immediately proceeded to that side and tried to apprehend the person with the help of local people.
The accused brought out a blood-stained knife and protested showing the same.
After much difficulty, they could apprehend the accused. On being asked, the accused disclosed his name as Sneha Shawkhar Samal and confessed to having murdered three persons. In the meantime, police arrived at the spot after getting information from the control room and took custody of Samal.
