Sambalpur: A man allegedly hacked his father-in-law to death with a knife following an argument at Mahulchhapal village under Govindpur police station limits in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Kalo Kachhap.
According to reports, the accused had visited his father-in-law’s house on Tuesday. Later, an argument broke out between the two over an unspecified issue. During the altercation, the accused allegedly became enraged and attacked Kachhap with a knife, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, the accused allegedly fled the spot and took shelter in a nearby forest. Acting on information, Govindpur police launched a search and apprehended him on Wednesday.
The accused was brought to the police station and detained for questioning.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are probing the exact circumstances and motive behind the alleged murder.
