Bhubaneswar: A man impersonating a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was arrested by Sahid Nagar Police in Bhubaneswar, on Monday.
The accused, identified as Manas Ranjan Senapati, was found with a fake identity card, uniform, and other counterfeit documents.
According to reports, Senapati, a resident of Basudebpur in Bhadrak district, was living in Madhusudan Nagar under Kharavela Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar. He allegedly used his fake DSP identity to deceive job seekers and extort money.
The police seized several items from Senapati’s possession, including a fake police uniform, an appointment letter, over Rs 2 lakh in counterfeit notes, a fake police ID card, a car, a laptop, and a mobile phone.
Senapati’s arrest was made possible during a night blocking by Sahid Nagar Police. An investigation is underway to uncover the extent of his fraudulent activities.
