Balangir: A man was killed and three others seriously injured after a youth allegedly attacked them with a stick following a dispute over a broken marriage proposal in Mallikmunda village under Patnagarh police station IN Balangir district.
According to reports, the marriage had been fixed between the daughter of Manbodh Sahu of Jambahala village and Surendra Sahu of Tureikela village. However, Manbodh later refused to proceed with the wedding for some reason. On Friday, Surendra Sahu arrived at Manbodh’s house along with his brother and mother. They stayed overnight at the house of Manbodh’s relative, Binod Sahu, in Mallikmunda village.
After everyone had dinner and gone to sleep, Surendra suddenly launched a violent attack on the family members using a stick. Following the assault, Surendra fled the spot along with his brother and mother.
Local villagers rushed to the spot, rescued the injured persons, and rushed them to Patnagarh Hospital. Doctors declared Binod dead on arrival, while the other three injured are undergoing treatment.
Patnagarh police have reached the spot, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation into the case. Further details are awaited.
