Sundargarh: In a shocking incident, a person killed his elder sister with an iron rod during an altercation at Jinkala village in Mahulapada police station in Sundargarh district, on Sunday night.
The accused has been identified as Bijay Mahanta, while the deceased has been identified as his sister Hemagiri Mahanta.
According to reports, a family dispute ensued between brother Bijay and his wife last night. As the quarrel between Bijay and his wife escalated, Hemagiri intervened. In a fit of rage, Bijay attacked his elder sister Hemagiri with an iron rod during an altercation, inflicting severe injuries on her.
Hemagiri succumbed to injuries on the spot. Bijay took his sister to the Bonai Hospital for treatment, where she was declared dead by the doctor.
Upon receiving the information, the Mahulapada police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
