Keonjhar: Police arrested a man for allegedly murdering his wife and hiding her body in a sack at his home in Sadangi village under Baria police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Pradip Bentkar, locked his room after hiding the body there. Police arrested him on Wednesday and sent his wife Barsali’s body to the Champua sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.
Pradip reportedly had a heated argument with his wife, who was drunk on Monday night. During the argument, he dragged his wife inside the house and thrashed her mercilessly. Barsali lost her consciousness and breathed her last.
Police said that Pradip then stuffed Barsali’s body in a sack, hid it in a room, and locked it from outside. The crime came to light after Pradip’s daughter Sandhya started searching for her mother. She found the body and informed the other residents of the village about the crime. The villagers caught Pradip and tied him to a pole before handing him over to the police.
Baria police station IIC Hemant Kumar Majhi told the media that they have initiated an investigation into the murder.
