Deogarh: A woman allegedly died after being brutally assaulted by her husband following a domestic dispute in Deogarh district, police said on Friday.
The incident took place at Dudhianali village under Reamal Police Station limits. The deceased was identified as Subasini Chhatria of the village.
According to a written complaint lodged with Reamal Police, an altercation broke out between Subasini and her husband, Bhisma Chhatria, over an issue at their home. During the quarrel, Bhisma allegedly assaulted her severely.
Subasini reportedly lost consciousness after the assault. Family members and relatives rushed her to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared her dead.
On receiving information about the incident, Reamal Police detained the accused husband and initiated an investigation. Police said Bhisma Chhatria is being interrogated in connection with the case.
Further investigation is underway.
