Anugola: A man allegedly killed his wife after suspecting her of infidelity in Anugola district, police said.
The incident occurred at Tirabi village under Batisuan panchayat within the limits of Pallahara police station. The deceased was identified as Hemalata Mohanta, wife of accused Soubhagya Mohanta.
According to reports, Soubhagya and Hemalata had an argument after she returned home late from agricultural work. During the altercation, Soubhagya allegedly accused her of being unfaithful and attacked her with a bamboo stick before fleeing the spot.
Hemalata sustained critical injuries in the assault. After receiving information, police reached the village and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Police subsequently registered a murder case based on a complaint lodged by Hemalata’s brother, Upendra Mohanta, and arrested Soubhagya in connection with the killing. Further investigation is underway.
