Kalahandi: A 50-year-old man died after being attacked by an elephant at Podakham village under Sirol Gram Panchayat of Kesinga block in Kalahandi district.
The deceased has been identified as Akur Herna (50).
According to sources, Akur was on his way to his farmland when he was attacked by the elephant. After the incident, villagers tried to rescue him. However, the forest department officials allegedly reached the spot late, villagers have alleged.
It is also reported that the villagers sent back the ambulance that had come to collect the body. Tension has prevailed in the area following the incident.
