Kalimela (Malkangiri): A 60-year-old man was critically injured on Tuesday after being hit by arrows shot by his younger brother over a land dispute at Mariguda village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district.

The injured man identified as Dula Madkami is battling for his life at the district headquarters hospital in Malkangiri.

According to reports, while Dula Madkami of Mariguda village was on the way to his field in the afternoon today, his younger brother Bhima Madkami had an argument with him over some land issue.

Suddenly, Bhima, who was carrying a bow allegedly pulled out two arrows and shot at Dula, his elder brother. The arrows hit Dula on his stomach. One of the arrows after piercing his belly got stuck and broke. The other arrow had slightly hit his belly.

Dula fell to the ground and groaned in pain. Hearing his cries, fellow villagers who were nearby rushed and saw him in a critical condition. While they could pull out the arrow which had slightly hit Dula, the other remained stuck.

The villagers immediately rushed Dula to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kalimela.
