Bhubaneswar: A man sustained serious injuries after being shot by three robbers during a foiled robbery attempt in Basuchakurai village under Basta police station in Balasore district on Tuesday.
The injured man has been identified as Subhranshu Shekhar Jena, a resident of Nima village under Basta police station in Balasore district.
According to reports, Subhranshu was returning home with his friend on Monday evening after visiting his sister’s house when three armed robbers on a bike intercepted them near the UP School in Basuchakurai village. The robbers attempted to snatch Jena’s bike and mobile phone.
When he resisted, they attacked him and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The bullet struck Jena’s right leg, causing a severe injury.
Upon hearing the gunshots, locals rushed to the spot and took him to Basta Hospital. As his condition was critical, he was later shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced treatment.
Following the incident, Jena’s brother Manoj, lodged a complaint at the Basta police station. Police have launched an investigation and efforts are underway to nab the accused.
