Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly stabbed his son to death at Kampulei village under the jurisdiction of Kankadahad police station in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Khirod Sahoo.
According to reports, a dispute broke out between Khirod and his father, Bibhuti Sahoo, on Saturday over reasons yet to be ascertained. During the altercation, Bibhuti, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, allegedly assaulted his son by hurling bricks and stones, causing injuries.
Following the incident, Khirod lodged a complaint against his father at the Kankadahad police station.
However, the situation took a tragic turn on Sunday when Bibhuti allegedly attacked his son again and stabbed him with a sharp weapon while intoxicated. Khirod succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
On receiving information, police reached the scene, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation.
