Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly stabbed his wife repeatedly with a knife after suspecting her of infidelity in Ishaneshwar slum under Chandrasekharpur police station limits in Bhubaneswar.
The victim, who works at a private clinic, suffered serious injuries on her neck and face and is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
The accused, identified as Shyam Sundar Bishoi, fled the spot after the attack. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to arrest him.
According to the complaint, Shyam and his wife had been married for 15 years and have two children. For a long time, the husband had been suspecting his wife of having an extramarital affair. The suspicion led to frequent quarrels, and the couple had been living separately — the husband in Shikharachandi area and the wife in Ishaneshwar Basti.
On Thursday Shyam visited his wife’s residence. An argument erupted after which he allegedly took out a knife and attacked her brutally, stabbing her on the neck and face before fleeing the scene. As a result, woman collapsed in a pool of blood.
Chandrasekharpur police have registered a case based on the wife’s complaint and are actively searching for the accused. Further investigation is underway.
