Deogarh: A man was trampled to death by a tusker at Utunia village under the Reamal Range in Deogarh district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Hrudananda Behera, a resident of Utunia village.
According to reports, Hrudananda was on his way to inspect and protect his crop field when a tusker suddenly emerged from the nearby forest and attacked him. He died on the spot.
Upon receiving information, family members rushed to the location and alerted officials of the Reamal Range Forest Department. A team from the department soon arrived, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
Forest officials are monitoring the tusker’s movement in the area to prevent further incidents.
