Nabarangpur: A man and his two minor sons were killed, while another son sustained critical injuries after a truck allegedly rammed into their motorcycle at Deobharandi village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Babulal Gond and his sons, Pradeep Gond (3) and Tushar Gond (6). Their third son, aged 10, suffered serious injuries and was initially rushed to Hatabharandi Community Health Centre before being shifted to Umarkot Sub-Divisional Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to reports, Babulal was travelling with his three sons on a motorcycle on the Raighar-Kundei State Highway when a truck heading towards Kundei allegedly hit the two-wheeler. The impact of the collision was so severe that Babulal and his two younger sons died on the spot.
The motorcycle was crushed under the truck and dragged for a considerable distance, highlighting the horrific nature of the accident. The incident triggered panic among locals, who rushed to the spot and informed the police.
Police reached the accident site soon after, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination. The truck driver has been detained for questioning, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap.
