Jeypore: A man, who had undergone 15 years of imprisonment for killing his first wife, allegedly beat his second wife to death over a trivial matter at Dangaguda in the town police station area in Koraput district.
Accused Bhagat Harijan (63) was arrested after his son Dumu Paraja lodged a complaint at Town police station in this regard.
Dumu alleged that his father beat his mother Kusuma severely with a wooden plank. Profusely bleeding Kusuma died on the spot.
Police rushed to the spot with a scientific team and launched an investigation. The wooden plank used in the crime has been seized. The accused has been arrested from Borigumma, Town police IIC Satyananda Patra said.
On the other hand, the body has been handed over to family members after post-mortem at the district headquarters hospital.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that Bhagat got irked as his wife didn’t serve the meal in time.
Kusuma was his second wife, police said. The accused had also murdered his first wife and had spent 15 years in prison, the IIC added.
