Bhadrak: The Crime Branch on Tuesday took Sarmistha Rout, the principal accused in the cameraman Manas Swain murder case, and three others on a five-day remand.
The other three accused are former Director (Technical) of I&PR Department Niranjan Sethi, Sarmistha Rout’s associate Jhuna Bhoi and proprietor of Raj Communication of Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar Ranjan Nayak alias Raj.
While the Crime Branch had sought to take the four on a 10-day remand, the JMFC Court here on Monday allowed to take them on a five-day remand.
The principal accused Sarmistha and her associate Jhuna who were on the run were arrested near Nalanga in Bhadrak district by the Crime Branch with the assistance of Bhadrak police while they were coming in a private bus.
So far, eight persons have been arrested in this case including prime accused Sarmistha and former Odisha Information Service (OIS) officer Niranjan Sethi.
