Bhubaneswar: Retired IAS officer Manoj Kumar Parida (AGMUT cadre), has been appointed as the new Chief Information Commissioner of Odisha. Parida, who previously served as an Insurance Ombudsman in Bhubaneswar for a three-year term, brings extensive experience to his new role.
Alongside Parida’s appointment, three Information Commissioners have been named: Pranabindu Acharya, a retired IPS officer; Kalpana Pattnaik, an advocate from the Orissa High Court; and Pabitra Mandal, a retired IAS officer.
The Odisha State Information Commission, an autonomous and statutory body, was constituted under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Its primary functions include hearing appeals on information shared by government entities, investigating complaints regarding refusal to provide information, and monitoring annual reports from departments on RTI-related complaints and responses.
