Bhubaneswar: The body of a man was found on the banks of the Tel River under the jurisdiction of Tusura police station in Balangir district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Nataraj Thanapati, a businessman and a resident of Deulgudi village under Tusura police station limits.
According to reports, during routine late-night patrolling, police personnel noticed an unattended motorcycle parked on a bridge over the Tel River. Suspecting something unusual, they conducted a search in the surrounding area and subsequently found the body lying on the riverbank below the bridge.
The police immediately informed the family members of the deceased and took up an investigation into the incident.
A forensic team was also called to the spot to examine the scene and collect evidence. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
