Bhubaneswar: The mutilated body of a man was found on the railway tracks near Lingaraj Temple Road railway station in the city early Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Papu Behera, a resident of Botanda area in Bhubaneswar.

According to family members, Papu had gone out on Monday evening but did not return home. When repeated calls to his mobile phone went unanswered, his relatives and friends began searching for him. They later located his car parked near Lingaraj Temple Road railway station. During a search of the nearby area, they found a body on the railway tracks and immediately informed the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Family members have alleged that foul play may be involved, stating that the deceased was engaged in real estate activities, assisting clients in buying, selling and renting properties.

The Lingaraj police, along with the GRP, have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the death.
