Malkangiri: The security forces in a combing operation recovered a huge amount of counterfeit currency from a forest in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Saturday evening.

The Sukma police force, along with District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans in a joint operation, have recovered a printing machine along with fake notes with denominations of 50, 100, 200 and 500 from a Maoist camp located in the Korajguda forest of Sukma district.

According to police, this is the first instance of fake currency belonging to the Maoists that has been recovered from the State in the last three decades.

The Maoists had been using fake currency in the small markets in the interior regions of the State, duping innocent tribals.
