Bolangir: A major fire broke out at the electricity grid station in Tusura area of Odisha’s Bolangir district on Wednesday, triggering panic in the locality and affecting power supply in nearby areas.
According to preliminary reports, flames suddenly engulfed parts of the grid station, damaging newly installed transformers and other electrical equipment.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the premises as the fire spread rapidly. On receiving information, fire services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to bring the blaze under control. Efforts were underway to completely douse the fire at the time of filing this report.
Electricity supply in the affected region has been disrupted due to the incident. The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.
Though the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the blaze.
Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation after the situation is brought under control.
No casualties or injuries had been reported immediately.
