Mayurbhanj Girl Trekker Missing In Nepal Flood Traced, Safe In Baglung

Bhubaneswar: The 20-year-old girl trekker from Mayurbhanj who remained untraced in flood-ravaged Nepal is safe. Kulsum Nigar herself called her family and informed them about her status. She said she along with other members of her trekking group are safe and currently in Baglung area in western Nepal.

She remained untraced for the last two-three days due to mobile network crisis in the region, which also hampered rescue and communication efforts.Her family expressed relief over her safety.

Kulsum, from Baripada town of Mayurbhanj district, was the third Odia reported missing after the flash floods. Her last known location was Pokhara, where she had gone for trekking. She was last contacted at about 11 am on August 25 and remained active online until around 8:30 am on Wednesday, a government official had said earlier.

The state government has set up a round-the-clock control room at Odisha Niwas, New Delhi to assist people from the state stranded in Nepal. The control room can be contacted on 7428135044, 8527580245 and 011-23012807.A wall of mud and rock collapsed into a Himalayan river on Wednesday triggering floods and leaving over 330 dead and hundreds missing on both sides of the Nepal-China border.
