Mayurbhanj: In a shocking incident, a woman killed her own one-and-a-half-month-old child following an ugly fight with her husband in Bankidihi village under Bishoi police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
The cruel mother has been identified as Parvati Naik.
According to reports, soon after a verbal fight with her husband, Parvati took her infant son and threw him into a canal in Bankidihi village. However, the reason behind the couple’s ugly quarrel is yet to be ascertained.
Villagers rescued the floating body of the infant from the canal. They immediately informed the Bishoi police about the incident.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot, seized the body, and sent it to Rairangpur Hospital for postmortem. The police have also arrested Parvati and launched an investigation into the matter.
