Bhubaneswar: With an impressive 99.997 percentile Anvesh Subham Pradhan has emerged as Odisha topper in the recently announced Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), the result of which was published by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday.
Hailing from the state capital, Anvesh is a student of DAV Chandrasekharpur and also a recipient of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar-2021. Moreover, he has received more than 600 certificates in different Olympiads, competitions and events.
If you are of the impression Anvesh is a studious boy, who does not love sports, you are absolutely wrong. This whizz kid is a brilliant chess player. He is a chess player with a standard FIDE rating of 1479.
Born to banker Manas Ranjan Pradhan and Jharana Pradhan, Anvesh started preparing for JEE when he was in Class X.
It is pertinent to mention that 118 students from DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur were selected for JEE Advance out of which 16 students have secured more than 99 percentile. However, Anvesh bagged first place in the state.
It was indeed a proud moment for Anvesh when Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him through video conferencing after the JEE Main result was out.
At a time when youths of his age cannot spend a minute without mobile phones, Anvesh is an exception. Anvesh tries to stay away from his mobile phone. And this is the success mantra of Anvesh behind emerging as Odisha JEE Topper.
Talking about his preparations, Anvesh said, “I used to study for 10 hours a day. However, I ensured to spend less time in cell phone so that I would not be distracted from my ambition. I only had 30 minutes of screen time per day. I made sure to manage my time wisely. Apart from meditation, I used to do yoga and walk to stay motivated and calm. Most importantly, the continuous encouragement of my parents helped me stay motivated all the time and cracked JEE with the highest percentile.”
“Mathematics and Chemistry are my favourite subjects. I used to give extra effort to Physics. I used to spend hours on revising practice sets so that I could give my best in the exam”, maintained Anvesh.
Upon being asked about his aim, he said, “I want to make a career in research. My preferences are IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi. I will choose Computer Science or Mathematics and Computing as the subject of my study.”
It is important to note that the NTA conducted the JEE Mains 2024 exam in two sessions – January and April. The total number of JEE Mains registrations in both sessions was over 24 lakh — 12,21,624 in session 1 and 12.57 lakh in session 2. The best of the candidate’s scores in JEE Mains will be considered while preparing the final merit list.
