Bhubaneswar: The mercury crossed 35 degrees Celsius for the first time this season, marking the onset of summer in the State.
Paralakhemundi recorded the highest maximum day temperature at 35.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda at 35.2 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, Bolangir town also recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, according to weather scientist Umashankar Dash.
Other places that recorded temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius include Sambalpur (34.7), Hirakud (34.7), and Bhawanipatna (34).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dense fog on Sunday morning in several districts, including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Khordha, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.
In light of this, the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory, instructing police and transport department officials to regulate vehicular movement on highways during foggy conditions.
