Bhubaneswar: Odisha is experiencing a cold wave, with temperatures dropping below 10°C in at least ten places over the last 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In the last 24 hours, G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature at 5.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Similiguda at 7.5 degrees, Daringbadi at 8 degrees, Rourkela at 8.1 degrees, Phulbani at 8.5 degrees, and Jharsuguda at 8.6 degrees Celsius.
The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, which is 3.2 degrees below normal. In Cuttack, the minimum temperature dropped to 12.4 degrees Celsius, down from 13.2 degrees the previous day.
The cold wave has disrupted daily life, with dense fog causing travel disruptions in some areas.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted no significant change in night temperatures for the next week.
Going by IMD forecast for tomorrow, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput.
