Bhubaneswar: The hot weather continued for the third consecutive day as 18 places across Odisha recorded temperature 35 degrees C or above even as the Met department predicted light rain in several places in Odisha from today.
Mercury level crossed 36 degrees C in five towns including the State Capital.
With 36.3 Degrees C, Sonepur topped the chart and emerged as the hottest place while Bhubaneswar and Talcher stood second in the row with 36.2 degrees C each.
Titilagarh and Boudh witnessed 36 degrees C each while Jharsuguda came next with 35.7 degrees C.
Places recorded above 35 degrees C temperature are Bhadrak (35.6), Dhenkanal(35.6), Bhawanipatna (35.5), Nayagarh (35.5), Bolangir (35.5), Cuttack (35.4), Malkangiri (35.4), Angul 35.3), Balasore (35.2), Chandbali (35.2), Jajpur (35.2) and Paralakhemundi (35).
The weather scientists said that dry and hot wind helps increase the day temperature.
However, some parts of the State will get a brief respite as the weather forecasting agency forecasted light to moderate rain over some districts of Odisha. The rain will continue till February 28.
