Bhubaneswar: Scorching heatwave conditions continued to prevail across Odisha as mercury zoomed past 40°C in as many as 26 places in the State.
According to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here at least seven places in the State recorded a maximum day temperature of 43°C or more.
Boudh recorded a maximum day temperature of 44.6°C and was the hottest place in the State followed by Titilagarh at 44°C, Nuapada at 43.9°C, Bolangir at 43.4°C, Malkangiri at 43.3°C, Paralakhemundi at 43.3°C, and Bhawanipatna at 43°C.
After a break of 24 hours, the mercury soared beyond 40°C in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum day temperatures of 41.6°C and 40.5°C respectively.
The IMD has said that heatwave is likely over the districts of Odisha during the next 3-4 days & abatement thereafter from the 6th onwards.
