Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, renowned micro artist L. Ishwar Rao from Hatabazar in Gopinathpur area of Jatni, Khordha district, has once again showcased his exceptional craftsmanship by creating a miniature model of the Kedarnath Temple on a piece of chalk.
Known for dedicating a special artwork every year to Mahashivaratri, Rao continued his tradition in 2026 with this intricate creation. The micro sculpture, meticulously carved over a span of three days, measures just three inches in height and length, with a breadth of one and a half inches, highlighting the artist’s remarkable precision and patience.
Despite the fragile medium, the miniature Kedarnath Temple captures the essence of the revered shrine and reflects Rao’s deep spiritual devotion. Through this unique art form, he has conveyed Mahashivaratri greetings to people across the state and beyond.
Rao also offered prayers to Lord Shiva, seeking His blessings for peace, prosperity, and well-being for all. His work has drawn appreciation from art enthusiasts and devotees alike, once again bringing attention to Odisha’s rich tradition of micro art.
