Bhubaneswar: A mild earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the Kalahandi region of Odisha on Wednesday evening, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.
According to the NCS, the tremor was recorded at 7:42 pm. Its epicentre was located at latitude 19.729°N and longitude 82.599°E, at a depth of 24 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface.
The quake was reportedly felt for a few seconds in several parts of the district, including Dharamgarh, Junagarh, Koksara and Jharigaon, causing brief concern among residents.
However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage to property from the affected areas.
The National Center for Seismology, which monitors seismic activity across the country, is closely tracking the situation.
