Bhubaneswar: With a day left for the world-famous Rath Yatra to begin, a Puri-based miniature artist Saswat Ranjan Sahoo gifted three miniature chariots of Trinity to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Using 2,025 matchsticks, Saswat created the sculptures in 15 days.
The chariots have been decorated with, parrots, horses and other sculptures that are integral to the Trinity’s chariot.
He met CM Mohan Majhi at his Bhubaneswar-based residence and presented the sculptures to him on Friday. Accepting the gift, CM Majhi praised Sahoo’s skills.
In 2022, Sahoo had created three miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra with matchsticks. He had made the miniature chariots using 4,830 matchsticks and he took 18 days to complete.
It is pertinent to note that Sahoo has been creating sculptures since the COVID-19 lockdown. He rose to fame after creating a miniature version of Ayodha’s Ram Temple using 7, 780 sticks.
