Jeypore: A tragic incident occurred in Kaneijaba Garu village of Borigumma Block in Koraput district, where a minor boy lost his life due to electrocution.
Kailash Gedba, son of Dain Gedba, was picking cashews in a nearby orchard with his friend Karpur Gedba when a short-circuited electricity wire lying on a tree branch came into contact with him. Kailash was burnt alive and died on the spot.
The incident happened at around 5 pm, and Karpur Gedba informed the villagers after witnessing the accident. Although the villagers managed to stop the electricity supply, it was too late to save Kailash’s life.
Villagers have alleged that the electricity department was negligent in addressing the issue. They claimed that the electricity wire had snapped three days ago. Despite informing the department, no action was taken to ensure the supply was stopped. The snapped wire remained live, leading to the fatal accident.
Kailash’s family and the villagers have blamed the electricity department for the boy’s death and are demanding compensation.
The shocking incident has left the family and villagers devastated.
