Balangir: A minor boy drowned in a pond while bathing with friends at Santuper village under Saintala police station in Balangir district, on Monday.
The deceased boy was identified as Priya Darshan Jena, a resident of Anand Nagar in Balangir city. He was a Plus II student and the only son of his family.
As per reports, four friends had gathered at the village to attend a wedding ceremony. While bathing together, one of the friends drowned in the water. Despite efforts by the villagers to rescue him, Priya drowned. The other three were rescued safely by villagers.
Priya was rushed to Saintala Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead by the doctor. Police took custody of the body and launched an investigation into the incident.
