Bhubaneswar: An 8-year-old boy, kidnapped by his home tutor and accomplices, was rescued by the police after a 7-hour operation. The police commissioner, S. Dev Datta Singh revealed that the tutor orchestrated the kidnapping for ransom. Seven people, including the mastermind, two women, and four accomplices, were arrested.
The minor, Pratyush, was kidnapped from Panchagaan under the Airfield Police station while returning from school when a black car blocked his path and two miscreants abducted him at gunpoint. The minor boy informed that he was abducted on the pre-text of taking him hospital.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh, threatening to harm the child if their demands weren’t met.
The police launched an operation and rescued Pratyush from Khordha Nirakarpur. During a press meet, Pratyush revealed that his home tutor was the mastermind behind the kidnapping. The tutor had planned the kidnapping to collect money from the child’s family, who had recently sold some land. The police have taken action against all those involved.
