Gopalpur Police Station

Bhubaneswar: A youth was arrested after his minor female friend allegedly consumed phenyl inside the Gopalpur police station in Ganjam district on Monday.

The youth has been identified as Kedar Das.

According to police, the minor girl and Kedar Das had approached the police station to file a complaint after being denied a rented room by a local resident who had taken their money. Upon arriving at the station, the girl reportedly became distressed when her father arrived. In a panic, she consumed approximately 5 to 10 ml of phenyl, which she had kept in her bag.

“The girl was immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur for treatment. Doctors confirmed that the minor’s condition is stable and she is now out of danger,” said Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M while speaking to reporters.

The arrest of Kedar Das was made after the victim’s mother filed a complaint accusing him of kidnapping and sexual assault. He was subsequently produced before the local court.

The police continue their investigation into the matter.
