Malkangiri: The body of an 11-year-old student was found hanging in a private hostel in MV 7 village under Sadar block of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Kamala Mandal, a student of Class VI. She was a resident of MPV 130 village under Kalimela police limits in the district. She has been staying in the hostel since June 2023.
According to reports, the inmates of a private tutorial hostel named Shri Ganesh spotted the body of the minor girl hanging in a toilet of the hostel and brought the matter to the notice of the authorities who immediately rushed her to the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Unfortunately, the doctors attending Kamala declared her ‘brought dead’.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s maternal uncle has lodged a police complaint alleging that his niece has been murdered. In his complaint, Kamala’s maternal uncle alleged that the manager of the private hospital had misbehaved with the minor girl some six months back and this had led to a dispute with the hostel authorities.
The doctors, however, said that the actual cause of the girl’s death would be ascertained only after they received the autopsy report. The police have initiated a probe into the girl’s unnatural death.
