Bhubaneswar: A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth after being served a spiked drink in the Padmagiri area under Model police station limits in Malkangiri district, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Debu Barui, has been detained, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
According to reports, the incident took place on Monday when the girl, accompanied by the accused and another friend, went on a motorcycle trip to the Jaduguda Shiva Temple in Sadar block. After the visit, the trio went to a nearby forest, where the accused allegedly offered the girl an intoxicant-laced drink. Later, with the help of the victim’s friend, Debu allegedly raped her.
Police said a complaint was later lodged by the girl’s family, following which the accused was detained.
“An investigation has been initiated based on the complaint,” said Regan Kindo, Inspector-in-Charge of Malkangiri police station.
