Malkangiri: A minor girl from MV 71 village under MV 79 police limits in Malkangiri district succumbed to a snake bite today morning.
The deceased, an eighth grader has been identified as Urmila Mandal.
According to reports, when Urmilla went to sleep in her room at around 10 PM on Wednesday two venomous snakes which were hiding in the bed bit her.
She was immediately rushed to Kalimela Sub Divisional Hospital. As her health condition deteriorated doctors referred her to the District Headquarters Hospital here.
However, Urmila breathed her last while undergoing treatment for snake bite.
Following her death, post-mortem was conducted and MV 79 police registered a case of unnatural death.
