Bhubaneswar: Miscreants hacked a person to death while he was asleep at Medinipur under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district on Thursday night.
The victim, identified as Bhadru Mahakuḍ, was found dead on Friday morning.
According to reports, the assailants allegedly attacked him with a sharp object causing severe injuries on his head. His family members found his body lying in the veranda and informed police.
A team of officials, including the Ghatgaon SDPO, IIC, and police personnel, reached the crime scene and launched an investigation.
While the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, the police are working to gather evidence and identify the perpetrators.
